Job Description:

The Maintenance and Engineering Manager job is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the maintenance, engineering, and technical operations within the flexible packaging manufacturing facility. This includes ensuring equipment reliability, implementing efficiency improvements, managing capital projects, and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. The role involves leading a team of skilled professionals, optimizing production processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to support the company's goals for quality, productivity, and sustainability.Key Responsibilities:Maintenance Management:

  • Preventive and Predictive Maintenance:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all plant equipment.
  • Monitor equipment performance and ensure timely interventions to minimize downtime.
  • Maintenance Operations:
    • Lead the maintenance team in addressing breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and conducting repairs efficiently.
    • Establish clear response protocols for emergency maintenance issues to minimize production interruptions.
    • Maintain a detailed record of maintenance activities, spare parts inventory, and equipment history.
    • Team Leadership:
      • Recruit, train, and manage a team of maintenance technicians and engineers.
      • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols.
      • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback for professional growth.Engineering Management:
      • Capital Projects:
        • Lead the planning, design, and execution of capital improvement projects, including equipment upgrades and installation of new production lines.
        • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized services.
        • Process Optimization:
          • Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and reduce production costs.
          • Collaborate with production and quality teams to address technical challenges and enhance product quality.
          • Compliance and Safety:
            • Ensure all maintenance and engineering activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
            • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.Strategic Leadership:
            • Budget Management:
              • Develop and manage the maintenance and engineering department's annual budget.
              • Optimize spending on spare parts, repairs, and capital projects without compromising quality.
              • Vendor Management:
                • Establish and maintain relationships with equipment suppliers and service providers to ensure timely procurement and support.
                • Technology Integration:
                  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in flexible packaging technology and incorporate innovations where feasible.Job Requirements:Education and Experience:
                    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field preferred).
                    • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in maintenance and engineering roles, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial capacity.
                    • Proven experience in the flexible packaging or a closely related manufacturing industry (e.g., plastics, printing, extrusion).Technical Skills:
                      • Strong knowledge of flexible packaging processes such as extrusion, printing, laminating, and slitting.
                      • Expertise in predictive maintenance tools, techniques, and technologies.
                      • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and ERP software.
                      • Proficiency in root cause analysis (RCA), lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma principles.Soft Skills:
                        • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
                        • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
                        • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.Certifications (Preferred):
                          • Certification in Maintenance and Reliability (e.g., CMRP, CRL).
                          • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.Other Requirements:
                            • Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies outside regular working hours.
                            • Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory compliance standards.
