Job Description:

Meat Cutter performs duties related to cutting, preparation, display, and sales of meat products. Ensures a positive company image by providing courteous and efficient service to customers and Team Members. Performs duties in accordance with team and store Standard Operating Procedures. Maintains a clean and sanitary working environment.Key responsibilities include:

• Cuts, platters, and merchandises products (beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry)
• Prepares specialty meat merchandise (sausage, oven ready products, cured meats)
• Checks product quality and freshness
• Maintains sampling program
• Monitors and prevents spoilage
• Mentors and supports Meat Cutter Trainees
• Provides excellent customer service and models suggestive selling techniques
• Maximizes sales potential through proper procedures
• Folllows established procedures and safe work practices
• Ensures a clean and sanitary working environmentRequired skills include:

• Working understanding of Meat team processes and procedures
• Excellent cutting skills and knowledge of different cuts and cooking techniques
• Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness
• Strong communication skills and willingness to work as a team
• Ability to follow directions and procedures
• Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods MarketPhysical requirements include:
  • Lifting 50 pounds
  • Standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment
